Re: English Chat Season 8
Dissected Frog = EEEWWW!!
I have only seen it when having something like 'babak praktikum' in a competition.... We didn't dissect it though, just looking at the frog and answer the questions.
The frog..... ugghhh, its heart was still beating.... very plainly obvious to see.... and it struggled a little, like it was in so much pain... (yea, of course its legs are pinned).....
Omigosh, I almost cried back then. If only my teammates didn't pin me on the seat, I'd have run away.....

Re: English Chat Season 8
I never liked practicals that uses animals that are still alive. I mean, that's killing + torturing. It's wrong to kill human but not for animals? I mean.. God.... They're still alive.
My mom told me a story when she had practicals back in high school. She had to dissect a marmut(dunno the english, sorry). I forgot whether she cut it herself or she let her team members to do it, but when they were preparing, my mom said the marmut was crying. When they cut the marmut's stomach, and she found 2 little marmuts inside. Yes, the marmut was pregnant, and my mom cried instantly, swearing she will never want to do it again. Even by listening, I cried already(My family loves animals so much to the point that they're like my siblings, I even grew up with animals). This is also the reason why I don't want to take science major in high school.
And Ann, I would have run, even though they're pinning me. Plus, back then I had a phobia of frog XD

It's not like I like animals, but I still have simpathy for them. I don't really like Bio because its nature to 'meneliti' living organisms.....
@THM: Lol, I was very afraid of frogs too (not until phobia degree tho) but after that "incident" I am not really afraid of them. My reason: because I've seen something more eew.ed than the living, jumping frogs =w=

Re: English Chat Season 8
Wow... To be honest, I don't feel a thing when dissecting both the frog and the fish since they will die anyway if I'm not dissecting them. Oh well, the dissect thing is actually a group work, and the bad thing of my grup is, from 4 people, 2 are girls... they don't even get their hands dirty .__. they just fill in the answer from the lab book with looking at the frog and fish >.<
Re: English Chat Season 8
@Gwilth: that's normal though, be considerate to girls lah
May I use Indonesian here? just a little "Seberani apapun, se-tomboy apapun, jarang ada anak cewek yg bisa/berani/mau membedah hewan kayak gitu (esp frogs XD) saya salah satunya "

Re: English Chat Season 8
LOL... yeah... XD
From my class, there's only 2-3 girls who want to dissect fish, but not frog though... I wonder why

Re: English Chat Season 8
Frogs are filthy!! >.<
And somehow girls are still 'ogah' to dissect fish, even though as a mother, they should cook... and it includes fish.
a question right back at me XD

Re: English Chat Season 8
Actually it's not because it's filthy or anything. I don't mind cutting them if they're dead. But if they're still alive... No thank you. It's not so much of a problem here in Australia because they got soooo many ethics in research, so they will never use living animals (good for me XD)
Re: English Chat Season 8
Idk, the teachers just ask for the bekicots and we gave them, that is... damn smuki "si pengambil keuntungan dr kesusahan murid"
And i hate dissect (bedah?) animals... i just can't stand it... Idc if its live or not, it just the same like cutting someone's dead body =/

Re: English Chat Season 8
Oh well, I prefer dissecting animal like fish or frog than human's dead body .__.
Re: English Chat Season 8
Errr.. I kinda prefer human body than animals.. That's why I wanted to be in forensic. Yeah, I know, I'm strange XD
Re: English Chat Season 8
frog??
when bio class, my group must present how the muscle work...
and tadaa, we dissect the thigh frog and that must do when the frog still alive so we can see how the muscle work...
disgusting huh.. when u see animal still alive being torture like that...
cool
remind me when my friend doing guts test or "uji nyali"...
every one look so brave
you know to see how trully man u are (so do I )...
we went to mortuary...
guess what,
we found an human intestine "or gut maybe" inside the glass jar...
that make us puke for sure...
i even not touch the food for 3 days...

Re: English Chat Season 8
Not disgusting, but inhumane. Well, maybe it's due to my upbringing with animals, but.. I don't think that should ever be done at all. Why don't they cut their stomach open(human will die instantly if this happens) or pin their thighs themselves? It hurts, doesn't it? The animals also feels the same.street_soldier wrote:frog??

Poor street... They say even forensic and medical students normally puke when they first saw human corpse/organ, even until several weeks later. Coz well, you know, the corpses aren't exactly "good looking"... They get by after a month or so though. What's worse isn't actually the moment you saw it, but after that. Because the memory of the scene is stored so vividly in the mind, the harder you try to forget, the more your brain actually process it (THM is ranting... )street_soldier wrote:

you know what, I passed AFS selections two years ago until the last test. but I wasn't chosen in jenesys program and failed in Jakarta selection. so i couldn't get to go anywhere. maybe AFS wasn't my chance.

Malay? cool! though I think that Malay language is kinda weird. I have once been in singapore and talked to a person who speaks Malay. Strangely, I couldn't understand what she was talking about. it seems my ears couldn't digest Malay dialect very well.
AFS is a student exchange program exclusively for tenth graders.
